This series of hand-stitched portraits is based on vintage photographs rescued from dusty oblivion in flea markets and antique stores. When I look at these compelling faces, I can’t help but wonder why no one in their families treasured these images from lives that have preceded their own.

Who were these women? What were their stories? Why were they forgotten? My slow, meditative working process enabled me to spend time with each of them to consider these questions and to honor their memories.
